The start of school opens a new season of life for many. Some children are beginning their school years; others are drawing their academic career to a conclusion. But even for those without anyone still in school, the start of the school year marks a time of beginning, or of getting back to our routine.

As you consider getting back to routines, how about making sure prayer and study of God’s Word is part of that routine? Making time with God part of everyday will help you grow in ways you could never imagine. A few years ago one of my former youth contacted me through Facebook. He now serves as a pastor in a large church. Needless to say, I was surprised that he is now a pastor. But his message to me was an inspiration. He remembered me sounding like a broken record, always telling them to have a Quiet Time, and also explaining how to do that. During his college years, he began to struggle and was reminded of those lessons. So he put those lessons to use and God radically changed his life.

God wants to draw you closer to Him. One of the ways He does that is through spending daily time with you. So as school starts, let’s either start or build a routine of daily spending time with God.
