This week starts the early voting for the November 8 election. As followers of Jesus, we are commanded to serve as model citizens of the land in which we live. One of the obligations our nation lays on its citizens is the privilege of voting for our elected leaders. Take some time to consider each candidate and their platform of ideas. Judge those plans against the Word of God and vote your conscience. Don’t allow your feelings about the candidates at the top keep you from voting.

When the election is over, we need to begin praying for every candidate elected to office no matter how we might feel about that candidate. Pray for their safety and for God to bless their tenure in office. Pray for peace in our nation. Disagree all you want with election results, but do so with civility and gentleness. Let us, as followers of Jesus, stand with integrity and dignity honoring God with all we say and do.
