A little girl was wearing one of those Medical Alert bracelets. Someone asked her what the bracelet was for. She replied, “I’m allergic to nuts and eggs.” They asked, “Are you allergic to cats?” The girl said, “I don’t know…. I don’t eat cats.”
“For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do.” Hebrews 6:10
If you come by my office, you will see all these little thank you cards taped to my door from our G.A.s, aka, Girls in Action. I really appreciate each note and each child that designed their unique card. As Pastors, we don’t need October to be Pastor Appreciation month, but it is so encouraging to be appreciated. I believe that I am called by God to serve Him in whatever capacity He desires, not for appreciation, but for the glory of God. Of course, I want people to like me and feel good about what I do, but when you surrender to the ministry, you sacrifice a lot of things most people take for granted. This kind of sacrifice requires that your purpose be greater than pleasing people, but pleasing God. Someone told me recently that my last sermon had made someone mad. I hated to hear that, but I preached on some tough scripture and sometimes God’s Word goes beyond stepping on our toes to piercing our hearts. I know, I require a lot of grace, so thank you for being so gracious!
I love our church and the God that led me here. I appreciate the opportunity to serve the Lord in this part of His kingdom. I thank Him for leading me here and I thank you for the love and support and grace I get throughout the year. Terry and I are blessed to be a part of this body.
Thank you and thank you, G.A.’s!
