Saved To Serve

The room was full of pregnant women and their husbands, and the Lamaze class was in full swing. The instructor was teaching the women how to breathe properly, along with informing the men how to give the necessary assurances at this stage of the plan. The teacher then announced, "Ladies, exercise is good for you. Walking is especially beneficial. And, gentlemen, it wouldn't hurt you to take the time to go walking with your wife!" The room really got quiet. Finally, a man in the middle of the group raised his hand. "Yes?" replied the teacher... ... "Is it all right if she carries a golf bag while we walk?"

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:8-10

“Where is your wife?” I think all of your staff members heard that question last Sunday. Well, let me tell you where they were. No, they were not fishing, or golfing, or sleeping in, they were serving in the preschool area and KidZone. I appreciate our staff wives, (one especially), because they have servant’s hearts. But before you name our next building after them, we’re all called to be servants.

As believers, we are all created to serve. We are not saved by our good works, but we are saved to do good works. If you are a believer, God has saved you to do ministry. Our staff is here to help you find where the Lord wants you to serve. Other than someone being saved, there’s not much more fulfilling than helping someone find their place of service. If you are not serving somewhere, you need to spend some time with the Lord because if you are truly saved, you should be serving. We were created for that purpose for the glory of God.
