Real Power

“Advice for the day: If you have a lot of tension and you get a headache, do what it says on the aspirin bottle: "Take two aspirin" and "Keep away from children."

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.” Col. 1:15-16

We serve the Creator of the universe. If we know the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, we know the Creator of all things! That is a powerful statement. Our God has the power to speak everything in the world to existence. We need to let that soak in as we face the variety of trials that we endure in this world.  Sure, there are trials that threaten our peace of mind, health, our finances, our family, our children, and our security. They may be genuine threats, but we serve the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. There may be legitimate challenges and difficulties in this world, but we serve the Lord Almighty!

Vacation Bible School begins in less than two weeks and it will be pretty lively around here from June 4-8!  I am so excited about the team of volunteers preparing to serve, and I don’t think we’ll need an aspirin dispenser by the door because we have the power of Almighty God working in us and through us. We’ll be talking about the powerful God we serve. Here are some ways all of our members can be a part of this outreach to our community. Prayer counts, but don’t stop there.

Pray. Please pray for the teachers, helpers, and especially the kids and their families.

Volunteer. We need help in several areas – especially on Thursday night – Family Night. Come fellowship with our guests.

Donate. We have a list of snacks we need to feed the children. We need snacks for our Hospitality room where our volunteers take a short break and get to fellowship with each other.

Servewhere and how the Lord leads, but don’t miss the VBS blessing!
