A certain little girl, when asked her name, would reply, "I'm Mr. Sugarbrown's daughter." Her mother told her this was wrong, she must say, "I'm Jane Sugarbrown." The Vicar spoke to her in Sunday School, and said, "Aren't you Mr. Sugarbrown's daughter?" She replied, "I thought I was, but mother says I'm not."
“So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. 14 Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.”
I have to remind myself quite often (every time I sin) that I belong to God and I need to live and look like Him. Paul lists all these qualities that we are to put on or choose to be a part of our life. Just like we choose what we wear every morning, we choose how we will live and act. We can choose to put on the heart of compassion and kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Love for God and others will shape and define our thoughts and actions. Some of us are stuck in unforgiveness and bitterness. It’s time to let go of the bitter past and choose to forgive, love and move forward. How many people look at our lives and are influenced one way or the other? This coming Sunday, we will be look at what it means to look, love and live like the Father. I hope you’ll be there.
