A husband and wife were at a party chatting with some friends when the subject of marriage counseling came up. "Oh, we'll never need that. My husband and I have a great relationship," the wife explained. "He was a communications major in college and I majored in theater arts." "He communicates real well and I just act like I'm listening."
“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.” Colossians 3:15
As believers, we have so much for which to be thankful! After several verses of telling us how to have peace with God through obedience and
peace with men through love and kindness, God’s word tells us to let “the peace of God” rule in our hearts. Peace is a wonderful master, not something to be feared! His peace that transcends understanding. That is, His peace is not related to our circumstances, but the grace of God, so it doesn’t add up. We can be thankful no matter what our circumstances because His love is eternally greater than anything we face in this world. God has blessed each of us in so many ways, but one of the greatest ways is calling us to be a part of this body! So, be thankful for all the people that have been attending church these days.
Be thankful for the record number of youth who are attending on Wednesday nights.
Be thankful for growth in our Children’s Sunday School.
Be thankful for the progress made on our church debt! We have received 70% of the first note in less than a month!
In recent days we have introduced a plan that will help us continue to grow as a church and reach the unchurched of our community. These changes are good things! Most of us don’t like change, but think about it: God has blessed our church with growth and the changes we are considering are designed to help us work with God and do what He’s called us to do: Make Disciples.
So, Be Thankful!
